EXCLUSIVE MIX FROM MACHINEDRUM PREMIERES TODAY ON
BROOKLYN, NY – SEPTEMBER 23, 2014 – The Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival returns for its seventh year on Friday and Saturday, November 7 & 8, taking over 10 venues in the heart of Williamsburg, with a pre-party as part of Input on November 6th. Since its inception in 2008, BEMF has established itself as a NYC mainstay – an endemic and eclectic festival celebrating Brooklyn’s electronic musical landscape and proudly presenting both emerging and established artists from the Boroughs and beyond.
This year’s venues will include the Music Hall of Williamsburg, Output Panther Room, Verboten, Cameo, Villain, Kinfolk, Baby’s All Right, Glasslands and an undisclosed afterparty location. Katie Longmyer (Good Peoples), known for her expertise in lifestyle and creative partnerships, and Jen Lyon (MeanRed), known for her booking and curation acumen, co-own and co-produce BEMF.
Each year, artists and music-lovers flock to Brooklyn for an authentic underground experience that is emulative of the music BEMF showcases. “Brooklyn has always been the fringe. Brought into the mainstream in these past few years, what still exists is a pulse that is unique. Artists experience New York City differently here,” says Jen Lyon.
2013’s Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival was the most successful yet, with more than 8,000 people in attendance. The New York Times hailed it as an “incubator…capturing rising DJs and producers before they make wide impact.” Pitchfork noted, “With an extensive lineup tailored to appeal to interests both big-room and small-scale…[and] venues within walking distance of each other, BEMF is a dance festival without the muddy and furry-booted mayhem that often go hand-in-hand with dance festivals.” “It’s an easy point of entry for newer fans of the city’s dance scene, juxtaposing old masters and up-and-comers in an easy-to-find format,” said THE FADER.
Today ResidentAdvisor.net premiered this new mix from Machinedrum – done exclusively for #BEMF 2014.
